B A S I C S

Do you have a magical/Pagan name?
Yes, I am known as Akasha in the pagan world.

How did you find Paganism?
In 1991 I was doing research for an upcoming interview on my radio show with a witch from Salem, MA. After reading some books and speaking with a variety of witches, within a few months, I knew this was my path.

How long have you been practicing?
Since 1991.

Are you out of the broom closet?
With some close people, not the public.

Solitary or group practitioner?
I have attended rituals and meetings with a few groups, but prefer to practice alone. I'm not much of a club joiner.

What is your path?
Neo-Pagan

D E I T Y

Who is your patron Goddess?
Aphrodite and a generic all-encompassing female diety. No male gods, however Pan comes into play once in awhile.

Do you fear darkly aspected Gods/Goddesses, or rather respect them?
Don't believe in them.

Do you worship the Christian God?
NO WAY. It does not make sense to a logical mind and the rules and regulations are somewhat clouded with ideology that is bigoted, elitist and sexist.

Do you worship animals? Or plants?
I love dogs, owls and hawks, but I do not worship them.

 N A T U R E

Do you regularly commune with nature?
Yes, every day.

Taken a camping trip just to talk to nature?
I've taken countless day trips in my car.

Describe the moment you felt closest to Mother Earth.
I feel very close to nature at the very beginning of each season. Autumn is my favorite and most spiritual.

Do you have a familiar?
I took a drumming meditation class and found my token animals were hawks and owls.

Have you ever called upon the powers of an animal in ritual?
In a moment of confusion, I called upon the spirit of a hawk to guide me to the right decision.

Do you hug trees?
Yes. I love trees.

Give them gifts?
When I take a pine tree from the ground for Yule, or gather pine cones for crafts, I always push a crystal into the soil to replace it.

What is are your favourite flower/plants to work with?
Roses, Apples, Carnations.

Pine, Oak and Maple.

Yes. The first was February 1992 Imbolc.

Not yet.

A personal spell to find my spirit guide. I saw an elderly woman smiling back at me in my mind. I thought a younger spirit was my guide and was confused which seemed to amuse her.

What was the latest?
For a safe, smooth and happy move. It was.

Ever done a love spell?
Yes. I did a serious spell for a special man...outlined several traits I wanted him to have. He had all of those traits...but I didn't get detailed enough because he had other traits I could not live with.
I'd married him by the time I discovered those. We are now divorced.
I got very good advice from a priestess once that I ignored (and regret to this day)...be very careful what you wish for...you may get it, but also be very specific, or you may wind up unhappy with your choice.

A job spell?
Yes, and I got the job!

A healing spell?
Yes for myself and for others around me.

What was the most powerful spell you’ve ever performed?
Outside of the man spell, I did a very powerful spell for an apartment. I imagined a lot of rooms and storage. Within a week I'd signed a lease for a great apartment with lots of rooms and full attic storage!

Goddess energy and universal spirit. No specific gods or goddesses.

C R Y P T O Z O O L O G Y

Do you believe in vampires?
I believe there are people who have blood issues and "crave" the chemicals in human blood. A survival thing. I think there is a fad now of young people adding to their sexual excitement by pretending to be vampyres. I do not believe in rising- from- the- coffin- at- dusk, blood- sucking, sun-fearing vampires.

Werewolves?
I've dated a few...oh wait, those were just wolves...lol...a little werewolf humor.

Shapeshifters?
Hmmm...not sure. I have seen people seem to dissappear...shapeshifter cloaking?

Elves?
I think there may be shadow people that are other dimentional creatures that cross paths with this dimention in optimum energy-atmospheric conditions. This would encompass Fairies, Elves, Troggs, Ghosts and Brownies.

Dragons?
No, but I like the images and I love dinosaurs...and they remind me of them. They are powerful protection symbols as inanimate objects that I respect.
Nymphs?
Possibly.

Pixies?
I think some people (human) have traits of pixies. (Ancient human race known as Picts).

Ever “seen” any of the above?
Shadows...

Ever used any of the above in magic?
I have dragon incense holders and a statue of a dragon as a water guardian.

Do you have one of them as a personal guardian?
No.

R A N D O M

Own a cat?
Yuk, no. I am a dog person.

When you meditate, what does your happy place look like?
Beautiful with fields or a tree lined path in the woods.

Do you work with chakras?
Yes, I totally believe in them. I love the throat chakra color of blue for communication and have used it while broadcasting.

Do you believe in past lives?
Yes. Reincarnation is a strong belief of mine.

Do you believe in soul mates?
Yes, but I think there may be more than one on the planet for any one person.

Is it always love and light?
Yes. I would never do a negative, manipulative or malicious spell. I would not harm anyone with magick, no matter how pissed off I got with them.

SATURDAY 9 meme: Wouldn't It Be Nice

Welcome to Saturday 9 : Wouldn't It Be Nice

1. What's the nicest thing a complete stranger ever did for you?
Came to visit me in the hospital. I'd just had major surgery and NO ONE from my family came, nor did my husband, whom I was in the midst of divorcing. I'd been communicating with a few people online who also had this surgery and one of them came to see me and brought balloons and walked with me around the nurse's station. It was the only visitor in my 5 days stay.

2. What one thing always speaks deeply to you, to your spirit, no matter your mood or what else is going on in your life?
Music.

3. How many jobs have you held in your life? How many of those were part of your chosen career field?
At last count...42 to be exact. Counting my 3 months as an eBay dealer, 43. I enjoyed the photo lab jobs the most.

4. Of those jobs, how many did you leave voluntarily?
Almost all of them...I was fired from my very first job at a movie thater as the popcorn girl at 16 for being late a lot.

5. How did you discover Saturday 9? How long have you played? (Thank you for joining in!)
Bud dragged me into this. I'd say about March or April this past year.

6. What's the worst beverage you've ever tasted?
A tie between Turkish Coffee and Ensure. I also gag if the Dunkee screws up and gives me hazelnut instead of regular coffee.

7. Is there anything in life you are "certain" about? Firm in your beliefs? Strong in your convictions?
I gotta be me.

8. How did you come up with the title of your blog's posts?
I copy them from the author.

9. Would you consider yourself a good cook?
Most of the time.  I enjoy baking more. I don't cook seafood or lamb because I don't eat it and am politically opposed to veal.

ROCK n ROLL FRIDAYS meme: The Beach Boys

Hi I'm DJ KathyA! Welcome to Rock 'n Roll Fridays. We are like other memes in that we will ask you thirteen questions each and every Friday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a singer, band, era or category and pick thirteen of their songs. Each of our questions will be based on the lyrics.

Today we picked The Beach Boys.

1. SURFER GIRL : “I have watched you on the shore, standing by the ocean's roar, do you love me do you surfer girl”
Were you ever interested in someone (other than a celebrity) who did not return your interest?
Yes. In 1977 I was in a car crash and the policeman who "rescued" me was near my age. I got an instant crush on him, like patients with nurses. He was just doing his job, but I took his kindness as a flirtation and pursued him for a whole year, even stalking his house. He was never interested in me, nor did he return my calls. I finally moved from the area and got over it.

2. BE TRUE TO YOUR SCHOOL : “So be true to your school now, just like you would for your girl or guy...”
Looking back, how do you feel about your high school days?
Blechh...outside of my band friends, I really hated High School.

3. FUN FUN FUN : “…and she’ll have fun fun fun till her daddy takes the T-Bird away…”
What was the worst punishment you received as a teenager?
My father slapped me in the face after I told my mother I hated her. I was 15 and he had NEVER struck me in any way prior to this moment.

4. I GET AROUND : “Round round get around, I get around”
Where did you go on your last long trip?
A horribly long train ride to NJ for a late christmas exchange, dinner, game nite and an exhausted overnite visit with Bud's family. It was an even worse trip back, with train delays, freezing cold weather and bad driving to stress me out to not want to ever go again.

5. HELP ME RHONDA : “You gotta help me Rhonda, help me get her off of my mind”
What do you do to cheer up after a personal tragedy such as a lost job, power outage or broken relationship?
Shopping! Eating! Let me count the ways...but usually a pint of ice cream should do it.

6. CALIFORNIA GIRLS : “I wish they all could be California girls. The west coast has the sunshine and the girls there get so tan, I dig a French bikini on Hawaiian island dolls, by a palm tree in the sand”
Where are the best boys found?
A toss up between England, Pennsylvania and New England...

7. SLOOP JOHN B : “I wanna go home, please let me go home, ya ya. Well this is the worst trip, I’ve ever been on…”
What is the worst trip you’ve ever been on?
See #4...

8. WOULDN’T IT BE NICE : “I guess the more we talk about it, it makes it harder just to live without it, but let’s talk about it…”
What is your biggest wish?
To be content...

9. IN MY ROOM : “There’s a place where I can go and tell my secrets to. In my room. In my room.”
What is your favorite thing about your own personal room or space in your home/office?
My make up table. I sit and think there while I paint the tapestry of skin.

10. GOD ONLY KNOWS : “You never need to doubt it, I’ll make you so sure about it. God only knows what I feel about you”
When was the last time you told a significant other or close relative that you loved them?
Today. xxo

11. GOOD VIBRATIONS : “My baby has good vibrations, she’s giving me excitations…”
When do you get good vibrations?
Oh come on, geez...Safely now, being with Bud usually conjures up a few.

12. KOKOMO : “We’ll go to Kokomo. We’ll get there fast and then we’ll take it slow. That’s where I wanna go…”
What is your favorite warm weather destination?
I absolutely hate warm weather destinations, so my answer is "into anywhere with air conditioning".

13. DO IT AGAIN : “Let’s get back together and do it again…”
If you could go back in time and gather up your school friends, what would you do again?
Enjoy it this time and appreciate the fact that it will never be the same  once you are grown up. sigh.

Wednesday Wickedness MEME: Curt Cobain

Today we picked Kurt Cobain. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. "A friend is nothing but a known enemy."
Have you ever had a “friend” that you discovered was really an enemy?
I had a close friend who did not support a major decision in my life. Her negativity came to the surface and I decided not to have her in my life anymore.

2. "Drugs are a waste of time. They destroy your memory and your self-respect and everything that goes along with with your self esteem."
What is the strongest drug (legal or otherwise) that you have taken?
I had morphine after surgery. Powerful stuff!

3. "I had a really good childhood up until I was nine, then a classic case of divorce really affected me."
Has a divorce (yours or your parents) really impacted your life?
Mine was not pleasant but not devastating either. I wish my parents had divorced years before my mother died. She was miserable in her marriage.

4. "I really haven't had that exciting of a life. There are a lot of things I wish I would have done, instead of just sitting around and complaining about having a boring life. So I pretty much like to make it up. I'd rather tell a story about somebody else."
What's the most exciting thing that you've ever done?
I sold everything I owned and moved to England to live without knowing if I had a home or a job waiting for me there. I found both after nearly living on the streets.

5. "I was looking for something a lot heavier, yet melodic at the same time. Something different from heavy metal, a different attitude."

Does a certain type of person scare you?
Born again christians on the make do...

Do you mind a friend who asks for favors?
Not at all. I love to help people. : )

10. "The worst crime is faking it."
Do you ever “fake it” for approval?
You mean like at a job interview? Ummm...yep.

MONDAY MAYHEM meme: More Random Questions

Today's MONDAY MAYHEM meme is all about Random Questions.

1. Are you through with all of the stress associated with the Holidays and the New Year?
Almost...one more party with the rest of Bud's family coming up in 2 weeks. THEN the holidays will be over (until my birthday!). : )

2. What is the stupidest thing about New Years resolutions?
Trying to keep them past the first coupla days.

3. We hear that Michael Vick has been given the use of a car in return for promoting a car dealership. Would you ever buy a car from that dealership? (in case you don't know about Vick, check out Wikepedia- you may need to scroll down a bit)
No, and in fact, I will send that car dealership a note telling them I will boycott them because of it.

4. Do you think that eating too many carrots turns the skin orange?
I've heard that rumour, however I don;t eat too many at a sitting to worry about it, but anyhoo, I guess in winter with fish-belly white skin, any color would be welcome.

5. Have you ever witnessed someone stealing from a store?
I've thought I have and reported it to the manager, but they cannot do anything without positive proof. Only preventive security. I take the view that if you see a crime and do nothing, then you are an accessory to it.
