MONDAY MAYHAM meme: Shopping Tips

Monday Mayhem:
With the holiday shopping season in full swing, we want to hear your shopping tips for the situations below.

1. You mention to your neighbor, with the body odor, that you are heading out to the mall in the morning. Neighbor asks to go with. What do you say?
"Sure, come on along!"

2. You go up and down every aisle in the parking lot until you finally scope out that perfect place. You patiently pull over to the side and put your signal on to wait for the person pulls out. Someone snags your spot before you can pull in. What do you do?
Park behind them and wait til they get out of the car to tell them I had been waiting for that spot and they should not have cut me off. I also have some of those fake parking tickets in my dash (the ones that tell people they are a$$holes) and I'd stick one on their windshield after they left for the store if I missed them initially.

3. You find that perfect sweater for grandpa and it's the last one in that size. Some lady with three screaming kids approaches you and asks for the sweater for her husband who is deployed in Iraq. What do you do?
Oh geez. Let her have it. Regardless of the story, if someone really wants a material item, I'll let them have it. It's just a thing after all. It only means that the sweater is not the right gift for gramps.

 4. You found the perfect gift for your best friend and you notice that there are no less than 100 people in line in front of you. Unfortunately, you just drank 3 cups of coffee before you entered the store. What do you do?
Get out of line and go pee in the store restroom. Then get back in line. Perfect gifts don't come along easily.

5. You're within 10 people of the checkout after waiting in line for 40 minutes and the person in front of you lets three people in line- he was just saving the spot. What do you do?
Let him. Life's too short to get angry about every little thing.

6. You get to the check out and your card is declined. What do you do?
LOL, this has happened. I check out what cash I have and remove items from the order until I can pay for them. I have done this with groceries!

7. forgot to buy something for Aunt Edna. Do you regift the fruit cake George from next door gave you?
Nah. I'll get a grocery store gift card on the way over. : )

8. Are you planning on doing most of your shopping in the stores or online this year?
Both. Too much fun!

Sunday Stealing: The Baker's Meme

Maya Angelo. She is an incredible person.

Closure on issues from the past by writing them down.

6. What would you do with your last day if you found you had only one more day to live?Grab Bud...

7. You’ve been doing medical research for decades and have finally found a cure. What was it that you found a cure for and why did you choose this particular ailment?

8. What is your most guilty pleasure?
Wife Swap and Joel Osteen on the telly.

9. Answer only one. What is your favorite book, movie or TV show?
"If It's Tuesday This Must Be Belgium" ... my favorite movie.

10. What do you think is the very best smell in the world? The one smell that can take you back to a time and place of a very vivid memory in your past?
Bread baking. It takes me back to the last time I had some with butter on it!

SATURDAY 9 meme: Dark Lady

Saturday 9: Dark Lady

1. Have you ever been to a fortune teller? If yes, what happened?
Yes, as a teenager I went with my mother to a spooky kind sort of lady named Mrs. Myles. She "saw things around your head" and told my mother she would die of cancer and that I would marry twice and have children that were not my own. She mentioned names and places that would never be "guessed" and neither my mother nor I gave her hints. It was incredibly supernatural.

 2. How do you cope in an uncomfortable social situation?
Humor and friendliness. Or I leave...

3. A genie appears (of course). She asks, “If you had 3 wishes but each took 3 years off your life, what would you wish for and why?”
1 wish: Finances to allow me to travel and enjoy shopping worry free.
2 wish: Good health up until the quick and painless end.
3 wish: A loving companion to the end.

4. Would you rather lose your soul mate or never meet them at all?
Oh crap...what's a third choice here? I don't want to lose him!

5. What is the hardest thing that you have ever had to do?
Get over my mother's death. I still have not...

6. Have you ever had a miracle happen to you or your loved ones?
On my mother's deathbed. I won't ever forget it, but it isn't fodder for a meme.

7. Tell us about a quote that you can relate to. Why can you relate with it?

"Bloom where you are planted"...has always been my motto since camp when I was 15. I move houses and jobs often...and up to now, boyfriends. lol

8. What personality trait has gotten you into the most trouble?
My truthful, opinionated big mouth.

9. For those in The States, how was your Turkey Day? If not from the US, do you celebrate a day like Thanksgiving?
It was terrific. Went to a fabulous restaurant with Bud's family called Apricots and wound up having pork tenderloin and butternut apple bisque instead of a turkey dinner. I sort of miss having leftovers to make sandwiches and soup with however.

ROCK n ROLL FRIDAYS meme: Led Zeppelin

Hi I'm DJ KathyA! Welcome to Rock 'n Roll Fridays. We are like other memes in that we will ask you thirteen questions each and every Friday.  Each week we will pick a singer, band, era or category and pick thirteen of their songs. Each of our questions will be based on the songs. Got it? Great! Let's begin this week's meme!

Today we picked Led Zeppelin.

1. BLACK DOG “Take too long before I found out, what people mean by down and out. Spent my money, took my car…”
When was the last time you were down and out?
Fairly recently...with pneumonia and unemployment...not a happy camper.

2. DAZED AND CONFUSED “Oh I don’t like when you’re mystifyin’ me. Oh don’t leave me so confused, now whoa baby. Been dazed and confused for so long…”
What leaves you dazed and confused?
People's interest in basketball games.

3. FOOL IN THE RAIN “Another 10 minutes no longer, and then I’m turnin around. The clock on the wall’s moving slower, oh my heart it sinks to the ground…”
Have you ever been “stood up”?
No, but I am guilty of standing up other people. My bad...

4. IMMIGRANT SONG “On we sweep with, with threshing oar. Our only goal will be the western shore. So now you better stop and rebuild all your ruins…”
How do you feel about immigration into the USA?
I beleive anyone should be able to come in, however, they need to work for at least 5 years and earn their social benefits, not just get them automatically upon arrival. Our native people need to have jobs and benefits first and foremost.

5. KASHMIR “I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been. To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen…”
Have you ever visited someone in a nursing (old age) home?
Yes. My mother while she was recouping from a serious surgery years ago, and my father recouping from a recent illness. I know the workers treat the patients really well and I'm so glad they are there, but I hate visiting and seeing these poor elderly people sitting in chairs staring, or passing their rooms and seeing unhappy, lonely people in bed with no one to visit them.

6. MISTY MOUNTAIN HOP “Crowds of people sittin on the grass with flowers in their hair said Hey boy, do you wanna score?”…
Have you ever done something because of “peer” pressure?
At 14 a group of girls and I went to Caldors (cheap chain store) and we all had to steal something "to be cool". I took a bottle of Babe cologne and I still feel guilty about it to this day.

7. RAMBLE ON “A ramble on, and now’s the time the time is now. Sing my song, I’m goin round the world to find my girl”
Where is the oddest place you went to on a date?
Highgate Cemetary in England at midnight with my new English boyfriend on a ghost hunt. Creepy, spooky place, but I'm glad to have had that experience.

8. ROCK N ROLL “Ho, it’s been a long time since we walked in the moonlight, a-makin vows that just can’t work right, haw haw, yeah yeah open your arms, open your arms, open your arms, let my love come runnin in…”
What’s the last romantic thing you did (besides sexual)?
Put covers over him when it got cold last night.

9. STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN “There’s a lady who’s sure, all that glitters is gold, and she’s buying a stairway to heaven…”
What did you last buy? Was it on Black Friday?
I got some bedding and drapes for the bedroom from online. I plan to redecorate as soon as I get it painted, which should be sometime this weekend, I hope!

10. THANK YOU “If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. If the mountains should crumble to the sea, there would still be you and me…”
What is the longest relationship you have ever had?
My failed marriage...7 wasted years. I have a better relationship standing with childhood girlfriends.

11. THE LEMON SONG “I work as hard as I can-a. I bring home my money, you take my money, give it to another man. I should have quit you baby-a such a long time ago…”
Have you ever loaned money to someone?
Yep. Our nutsy art web guy at a previous job was always short for cash on Thrsday, so I'd loan him lunch money and always get paid back on Friday.

12. THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME “You don’t know what you’re missin now. Any little song that you know. Everything that’s small has to grow. And it has to grow!”
Do you have plants in your house?
Not yet...I plan to when we move to a bigger place...

13. WHOLE LOTTA LOVE “You’ve been learnin and baby I been learnin, all them good times, baby baby I’ve been discernin…”
What is the last class or course you studied?
For my job recently...Xactimate (construction blueprint software) it's detailed and complicated!

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Today we picked Judy Garland. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else."
Have you ever realized that you were trying to be like someone else?
In the 1980s, I wanted to look like a Nu-Wave model...I failed because I didn't have that "edge" or bravery to pull it off.

2. "Behind every cloud is another cloud."
Are you more optimistic or pessimistic about things?
Optimistic. I believe in The Secret.

 3. "How strange when an illusion dies. It's as though you've lost a child."
Tell us about a time when you realized your perception of reality was an illusion.
My marriage to a man 9 years my junior...reality bites.

 4. "I've never looked through a keyhole without finding someone was looking back."
Have you ever felt someone was watching you a bit too closely?
My mother.

5. "If you have to be in a soap opera try not to get the worst role."
Have you ever had a job that you were embarrassed by?
Ohhh yaaa... most recently for a convenience store chain in management training. I had to wear a uniform and a name tag and be a cashier the first week. I felt like such a loser. What I realised was that people who work in a convenience store have a lot of responsibility and hard menial labor for a job.

 6. 'In the silence of night I have often wished for just a few words of love from one man, rather than the applause of thousands of people."
Do you feel that you need a lover to make you feel “whole”?
Nah, but he sure spices things up.

7. "If I am a legend, then why am I so lonely?"
Tell us about a time when you felt lonely.
When I was really sick a couple weeks ago, trying to get some sleep, unemployed and broke.

8. "I can live without money, but I cannot live without love."
Would you rather be rich and alone or live with love from a lover?
Oh about meeting in the middle. Live within means with a lover?

 9. "I try to bring the audience's own drama - tears and laughter they know about - to them."
Tell us about the last movie that you saw where you could feel the drama as though you were living it.
Avatar. In 3D.

10. "I was born at the age of twelve on an MGM lot."
What was your life like at 12?
Acne, the newness of menstrual cramps, big clumsy feet...crappy I'd say.

Prime rib, baked potato w/ butter, steamed veggies, crusty bread n butter. Chocolate cream pie for dessert. Alcohol...enough to knock me out for the big "event".

The laundromat...sigh. : (

Saturday 9: Happy Turkey Day 2010

1. Tell us about your very favorite (yes we know that's redundant) Thanksgiving.
In 1977, just before I left to live in Florida, I was dating a submarine sailor who's ship was stationed in my hometown. He was distraught because he had duty on T Day and could not be home with his family. They were having a dinner on the ship for all the sailors stuck on duty and allowed them to bring a guest.

I decided to forsake my family meal and eat my Thanksgiving dinner on a submarine, It was one of the most delicious I have ever eaten (Sub food is apparently known to be great), but the coolest part was he was so proud and happy introducing me to all the other guys and their girlfriends/wives, he forgot how homesick he was. It was the most unique Thanksgiving I have ever had, and one of the most gratifying.

2. What are you doing for Turkey Day this year?
Dinner out in a fancy restaurant with Bud some of his family. I'm looking forward to it.

3. If you were to go to somebody else’s house, what would be your favorite dish to bring?
Dessert! I love to bake. : )

4. Tell us about the funniest person that you'll be with this Thanksgiving.
Are you kidding?!

5. What would surprise us to know about your Thanksgivings?
I hate being around noisy children and usually dislike forced family activities.

6. Does your usual mix of guests result in drama, or is it a group you’re happy to see?
It is lacklustre, but this year's should be good.

7. What did your family do for Thanksgiving when you were a kid? Do you still do it?
My mother spent like 2 weeks preparing for this one day's meal. We broke out the fancy china dishes we never ate on except Easter, Xmas and Thanksgiving, with interesting crystal dishes made just for things like pickles, the gravy boat, special spoons ... She got up at 6am to start the cooking process. My father had a highball (alcohol drink) with dinner instead of milk.
Dinner itself would be eaten in the flouescently lit tiny kitchen in silence (no conversation). Well, we did get the pleasure of viewing and hearing my father's open-mouth chewing...and would be over in about 15 minutes.
I would watch the Parade with my father and siblings after the last bite of pumpkin pie, while my mother then spent like 2 hours cleaning up. It was nothing I made my personal goals on. If anything, it turned me off of ever wanting to grow up and get married.

8. We know you've been asked this probably 15 times this week. But share with us in 2010, what are you most thankful for?
This year? Bud.

9. Okay, the big question: are you going to 'attend' any of the "Black Friday" sales? ...and if you are, are you hard core serious like the 5 am "be there" crowd?
I am still not sure if my office is open. I don't get up at 5:00am for shopping, tho I have in the past...In the future, I'd like to get 3 other gals to go in with me to rent a limo, drop us off in front of our fav shops, then go to a nice lunch with cocktails after. Not this year however. ;-)

Hi I'm DJ KathyA! Welcome to Rock 'n Roll Fridays. We are like other memes in that we will ask you thirteen questions each and every Friday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a singer, band, era or category and pick thirteen of their songs. Each of our questions will be based on the lyrics. Got it? Great! Let's begin this week's meme!
Today we picked Stevie Wonder.

1. I JUST CALLED TO SAY I LOVE YOU “I just called to say I love you. I just called to say how much I care. I just called to say I love you, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart”
What did your last conversation revolve around on the phone?
Bud spoke with me just before he went to a Huskies basketball game.

2. SUPERSTITION “When you believe in things That you don't understand, Then you suffer, Superstition aint the way”
Do you have a crazy habit or superstition you must perform in certain situations, such as throwing salt over your should when you spill it?
If I forget something after I've left the house, I have to sit down and count to 10 before I get it. I also throw salt over my shoulder after I spill it.

3. SIR DUKE “Music knows it is and always will Be one of the things that life just won't quit But here are some of music's pioneers That time will not allow us to forget”
If you had to pick a music milestone event or invention, what would it be?
A tie between Woodstock and The Beatles on Sullivan.

4. YOU ARE THE SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE “You are the sunshine of my life, yeah, That's why I'll always stay around, You are the apple of my eye, Forever you'll stay in my heart”
What besides your significant other brings sunshine to your life?

5. LIVING FOR THE CITY “Her brother's smart he's got more sense than many, His patience's long but soon he won't have any, To find a job is like a haystack needle, Cause where he lives they don't use colored people”
Have you ever been denied a job or treated differently at a job for an unusual reason?
I was alienated by the born again boss in a high end photo studio because I was not a christian. He and I had to work closely and he made my life at work so miserable, I quit, which is what he wanted.

6. THAT GIRL “That girl thinks that she's so smart, That soon she'll have my heart. She thinks in no time flat, That she'll be free and clear to start”
Ever been pursued by someone who wanted you but you didn’t want them?
Ohhhh yaaa...mostly the guys I'd meet for coffee but never again wanted to see them.

7. I WISH “I wish those days could come back once more, Why did those days ev-er have to go I wish those days could come back once more, Why did those days ev-er have to go Cause I love them so”
What era of your life do you miss the most?

8. HIGHER GROUND “Powers keep on lyin', While your people keep on dyin', World keep on turnin' Cause it won't be too long”
Do you believe global warming will continue to worsen?

9. PART TIME LOVER ”We are undercover passion on the run. Chasing love up against the sun, We are strangers by day, lovers by night. Knowing it's so wrong, but feeling so right.”
Have you ever dated someone you shouldn’t have because they were married or “taken”?
Yep...but never again. See Question # 10.

10. SIGNED SEALED DELIVERED ”Then that time I went and said goodbye, Now I'm back and not ashamed to cry. Oo, baby, here I am, signed, sealed, delivered, I'm yours!”
Ever try it again with an old flame? What happened?
I ran into my high school senior prom date/steady boyfriend a few years ago. He was unhappily married and we really enjoyed talking about our school days/dates. Had a bit of a month long fling, as he promised he would leave his wife when his youngest went to college in a couple years...then his wife called while we were together and I realized he was just a dog and I walked out. Never again.

11. MY CHERIE AMOUR “Maybe someday, you'll see my face among the crowd. Maybe someday, I'll share your little distant cloud. Oh, cherie amour, pretty little one that I adore, You're the only girl my heart beats for, How I wish that you were mine”
Who was your very first crush? Did they return the emotion?
I had a crush on both Herb Alpert and Captain Kirk at the same time as a child. Neither ever met me, but when I lived in L.A. I knew one of Herb's top executives at A & M who offered to introduce us. I chickened out. I'm kicking myself now.

12. GOLDEN LADY “Golden lady, golden lady I'd like to go there. Take me right away.”
Ever get a tanning salon/ fake tan? Do you still worship the sun?
I used to lay out in the sun to get nice and toasty light brown to show off my disco dresses...tried a sunlamp and got terribly burned. Sunned in a salon only a few times about 9 years ago. Now that we know this is dangerous, why would anyone be that stoopid?

13. ALL IN LOVE IS FAIR “I tossed my coin to say In love with me you'd stay. But all in war is so cold You either win or lose. When all is put away, The losing side I'll play. But all is fair in love…”
What is the worst aspect of breaking up/divorce?
Starting over...or at least, think you are going to have to start over. It's never as bad as staying too long with the wrong person would be.

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Today we picked Boy George. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. “I can do anything. In GQ, I appeared as a man.”
What have you done that really surprised people?
Changed jobs and men and houses so often. I've moved 34 times since I left home.

2. “I suppose there is a lot of toughness in me.”
What was the last thing that happened that showed you how tough you are?
I survived 6 weeks of a very stubborn strain of pneumonia and during the worst of it, applied for jobs, went on interviews, cooked dinners and tried to function as a girlfriend. I am almost back to normal.

3. “I try to exist in a world where there is freedom of opinion, where you're allowed to make jokes. I don't want to live in some PC world where no-one's allowed to say anything.”
What do you think about being PC (politically correct)?
I always am publically. Privately, I can say outrageous things.

4. “I find it difficult to say this, but I'm quite a loving person and I've always been loving to my friends. In the long run, that pays off. I'm very interested in other people, and if you are, they're interested in you.”
Do you have an easy time making friends?
I am puppy dog friendly, but because of all my moves and job changes, I have many acquaintances, few close friends.

5. “Remember that I was out of the closet at the age of sixteen. My parents knew I was gay; I`d had to tell them.”
At what age and situation were you in when you “came out”, in the sense of true honesty, with your parents?
I came home the next morning from the senior prom. I "came out" about being sexually active that morning.

6. “People say things about me all the time and I get over it. I`ve had some appalling things told about me.”
What is the worst lie that was told about you that you felt compelled to respond to?
My friend's aunt told his family at a Thanksgiving meal that I could never have had the gastric bypass surgery because of the way I ate food. She was a nurse, so they believed her. I was totally insulted by this false statement and spoke right up. Wound up leaving the dinner in a huff.

7. “I'd rather have a cup of tea than sex.”
Are there a lot of things more important than sex to you?
I love relaxing, shopping and eating on the same level. When I am doing a large project involving crafts, cleaning, writing or music, I cannot be bothered with sex until I am done.

8. “I knew style and content went hand in hand.”
What celebrity do you find that their sense of style speaks to you?
Drew Barrymore or Nicole Kidman. In the 80s, I liked Brooke Shields and Olivia Newton John's stuff.

9. “In the '60s everybody wanted to be the Beatles or the Stones, in the '70s there were bands everybody tried to emulate, like Led Zeppelin. And I think in the '80s you had lots of bands that had quite individual sounds, ... '80s Rewind.”
What do you think about today's music? How does it compare to what you consider YOUR day?
I love music of every era, except country. MY DAY? My day is every day. I was a teenager in the 1970s and a young rebel in the 80s, so I tend to enjoy those decades the most. I get nostalgic for 50s and 60s stuff as well, and holiday music. I like new stuff like Linkin Park, Green Day, hip hop, Eminem, Civil Twilight and Paramore. Not a pop tart fan however, nor a boy band fan.

10. “Most psychiatrists or analysts are a waste of time.”
What do you think about shrinks and psychologists?
There are good ones and bad ones. If someone can draw out your issues and help you find closure to personality problems, then they are great. Some are just chat partners when it goes on for years and years and you're still messed up inside. Those are the bad ones.

The Cure

Hi I'm DJ KathyA!
Welcome to Rock 'n Roll Fridays. We are like other memes in that we will ask you thirteen questions each and every Friday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a singer, band, era or category and pick thirteen of their songs. Each of our questions will be based on the lyrics.
Today I picked The Cure. They are my favorite band of all time.

1. FRIDAY I’M IN LOVE “Monday you can fall apart, Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart. Oh, Thursday doesn't even start, It's Friday I'm in love”
Do you have a certain day of the week for particular meal, such as pizza night or a family night, such as Game night?
Friday and Saturday nights are always a treat in the Bud cave.

2. LOVECATS “We should have each other to tea huh? We should have each other with cream, Then curl up by the fire And sleep for awhile”
What is your favorite brand of tea (or iced tea)?
I grew to love tea made properly 'round 3 or 4 O'Clock in the afternoon. I enjoy Assam the best, or any strong tea. Not a fan of Green tea or flavors. It must be piping hot.

3. LETS GO TO BED “Another girl, Another name, Stay alive but stay the same It's just the same, A stupid game”
Have you ever joined a dating service or used personal ads to find a date?
Yep. Back in the 1980s, I was in a magazine club called INTRO in L.A. I also joined, Cupid. com, and eHarmony. I met some very interesting people. Met some long term friends, but none of the romances panned and most were a waste of lipstick to meet.

4. NEVER ENOUGH “However big I ever feel, It's never enough. Whatever I do to make it real, It's never enough. In any way I try to speak. Never enough”
What is the last project you worked hard on, only to get knocked down with friends /family insults about it?
Weight loss surgery. It was a total success. My family still refers to it as "that stupid thing I did to lose weight".

5. JUST LIKE HEAVEN "Show me how you do that trick, The one that makes me scream" she said. "The one that makes me laugh" she said. And threw her arms around my neck . "Show me how you do it And I promise you I promise that I'll run away with you"
What’s your best trick?
Used to be how well I mixed songs on the radio. Nowadays, I guess it's pulling a breakfast together so all the sides come out at the same time.

6. INBETWEEN DAYS “Yesterday I got so old I felt like I could die. Yesterday I got so old It made me want to cry…”
When was the last time you felt old or were told by someone else that you were too old to do something?
At a recent job interview, I was asked if I planned to retire in the next 5 years. Seeing my uncomfortable expression, she added "we always have to ask anyone who is over 45 this question, so it's nothing personal". Made me feel even worse.

7. WHY CANT I BE YOU “Everything you do is irresistable Everything you do is simply kissable Why can't I be you?”
What would you say to your favorite celebrity if you met them in person?
"Is there an afterlife?" (My fav celebrity is dead).

8. THIS TWILIGHT GARDEN “I lift my eyes from watching you
to watch the star rise shine onto your dreaming face and dreaming smile
you're dreaming worlds for me “
What is the nicest thing about sleeping with someone else, or sleeping alone?
Waking up at 3am to find an arm gently cradling me.

9. PRIMARY “The innocence of sleeping children Dressed in white And slowly dreaming Stops all time Slow my steps and start to blur So many years have filled my heart I never thought I'd say those words”
What do children do that amuses you most?
I love what they observe and comment on.

10. 10:15 ON A SATURDAY NIGHT “Under the strip light, And I'm sitting In the kitchen sink, And the tap drips , Drip drip drip drip drip drip drip drip”
What was the last appliance or household item you fixed?
A spotted carpet. I cleaned it.

11. BOYS DON’T CRY “I would say I'm sorry If I thought that it would change your mind But I know that this time I've said too much Been too unkind “
What was the last thing you said to someone that you wish you could take back?
"I do" (at my last wedding).

12. CATERPILLAR “You flicker And you're beautiful You glow inside my head You hold me hynotized I'm mesmerized Your flames The flames that kiss me dead “
What is your favorite insect?
Adam Ant (handsome 80s singer!), The Beatles, Grasshopper (a minty cocktail), or Hal Roach (Little Rascals films producer).

13. CHARLOTTE SOMETIMES “Sometimes I'm dreaming Expressionless the trance Sometimes I'm dreaming So many different names Sometimes I'm dreaming. The sounds all stay the same“
What era in history would you like to visit for one day?
The 1960s...a walk on Carnaby Street in swinging London.

1. “A little more moderation would be good. Of course, my life hasn't exactly been one of moderation.”

Do you live your life by moderation or extremes?

 2. “All of the women on The Apprentice flirted with me - consciously or unconsciously. That's to be expected.”
Have you ever thought someone was flirting with you in a work environment? What happened?
Yep, and they were. Nothing happened. I was in a relationship at the time. You know how company christmas parties go. The guy was back to being his aloof self on Monday morning and I pretended nothing happened.

3. “As long as your going to be thinking anyway, think big.”
Have you ever “thought big” and you wound up crashing and burning?
Yep. With jobs and men.

4. “Everything in life is luck.”
Do you believe in luck? If not, do you feel it all happens to us for a reason?
I believe in destiny and karma.

5. “Experience taught me a few things. One is to listen to your gut, no matter how good something sounds on paper. The second is that you're generally better off sticking with what you know. And the third is that sometimes your best investments are the ones you don't make.”
Have you ever benefited big time because you declined an offer, investment, job (Well you get the idea.)?
Yes. I turned down a job waiting for another and got it and wound up in a better place.

6. “I don't make deals for the money. I've got enough, much more than I'll ever need. I do it to do it.”
Tell us about someone that you know that has all the money they need.
I don't know anyone who has all the money they need, but I know many people who seem to manage with what they have.

7. “I have made the tough decisions, always with an eye toward the bottom line. Perhaps it's time America was run like a business.”
Do you think running your country like a business would be a good thing?

8. “I try to learn from the past, but I plan for the future by focusing exclusively on the present. That's were the fun is.”
Do you live in the past in any way?
Sometimes, and I feel "younger" than my years...

9. “If you're interested in 'balancing' work and pleasure, stop trying to balance them. Instead make your work more pleasurable.”
How are you at balancing work and pleasure?
Okay, but I wish I had more time for "pleasure" because a bad day at work or a long commute can really tap me out of energy for good luvin.

10.“Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war.”
Tell us about a time that you won the battle but lost the war.
A work thing. Told off a co-worker over a personal e-mail she sent with some bad info about me. She told everyone in the office what I said to her. I was alienated for a few days by all her allies.

MONDAY MAYHEM meme: Versatile Blogger

Today's meme is based upon the Versatile Blogger award which was recently passed on to us.

The requirement of the award is to list 7 things that you haven't mentioned before.
1. My Gastric Bypass Surgery
2. I used to play Trumpet really well
3. I believe in Reincarnation
4. I worked as a Glamour Portrait photographer and film developer
5. I hate Hazelnut flavor
6. I worked as a Bartender for many years
7. I had a Hysterectomy because I REALLY didn't want to have children...ever

The last 3 questions of today's Monday Mayhem are donated questions for Thursday Thunks which seems to be possibly having issues acquiring questions....simply answer each prompt with a usable question. Thursday Thunks appreciates random and silly questions as much as the real kind. If they don't care about keeping up with it, I won't care about answering...

8. Comparing , such as apples and oranges.
I love apples. I bake with them and eat them raw. I even like MacIntosh candle scent! I especially love MacIntosh apples, which I slice and dip into warm caramel. Question is: How did you recently use an apple?

9. Politicians.
Democrat, Green and Independent. I generally do not vote Republican, tho I did vote for Linda McMahon for Senate this past week. Question is: If you could pick a candidate for Senate, who would it be?

10. The oddest food you've ever heard of or tasted.
I would never taste either, but Trufles (the fungi, not the chocolate kind) and Rocky Mountain Oysters are the weirdest food. The worst "food" is dog. I cannot believe people eat puppies somewhere in the world. Question is: What is the oddest food you have ever eaten?

ROCK n ROLL FRIDAYS meme: Billy Joel

Hi I'm DJ KathyA! Welcome to Rock 'n Roll Fridays. We are like other memes in that we will ask you thirteen questions each and every Friday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a singer, band, era or category and pick thirteen of their lyrics. Each of our questions will be based on the lyrics. Got it? Great! Let's begin this week's meme!

Today we picked Billy Joel.

1. PIANO MAN“Sing us a song, you're the piano man, Sing us a song tonight. Well, we're all in the mood for a melody, And you've got us feelin' alright”
What is your favorite Karaoke song to sing with?
I am painfully shy about singing or acting in front of others, so I will have to say none.

2. CAPTAIN JACK”Saturday night and you're still hangin' around, Tired of livin' in your one-horse town. Like to find a little hole in the ground, For a while”
If you grew up in a one-horse town, are you still there, or did you try living somewhere else?
I could not wait to leave home. I hated my small town. I joined the ARMY while still a senior in High School (delayed entry), so I knew I had a place to go far away from Groton, CT that following September.

3. NEW YORK STATE OF MIND…”It comes down to reality-and it's fine with me 'cause I've let it slide, Don't care if it's Chinatown or Riverside, I don't have any reasons, I've left them all behind- I'm in a New York state of mind.”
What is your favorite New York food?
Gawd, does pizza count? How bout a hawt dawg then?

4. SHE’S ALWAYS A WOMAN TO ME”But she'll bring out the best And the worst you can be, Blame it all on yourself, Cause she's always a woman to me”
Has someone else ever brought out the best or worse in you?
Yes, I had a mother and a close friend who were paranoid and always negative. That brought out the worst in me. It has taken years to override this.

5. MOVIN OUT…”Workin' too hard can give you a heart attack ack ack ack ack ack, You oughta know by now. Who needs a house out in Hackensack? Is that what you get for your money?”
What is the most annoying line from a song lyric of all time?
"Workin too hard can give you a heart attack ack ack ack ack ack". I cannot stand this line, along with most of Billy Joels music.

6. ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG”They say there's a heaven for those who will wait Some say it's better but I say it ain't. I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints …Sinners are much more fun...”
What would heaven be like for you? A shopping mall? A forest? Mansion? Do tell…
I don't believe in heaven, but Pagans have a belief in a holding ground between lives called the Summerland. A beautiful nature laden place of serenity to rest and reflect on the life just passed and lessons learned.

7. JUST THE WAY YOU ARE…”Don't go trying some new fashion, Don't change the color of your hair. You always have my unspoken passion, Although I might not seem to care…”
Have you ever changed something about yourself to please somebody else?
Yep. I became a redhead once for a guy. He then told me it was too light a shade and still too short, so I bought a wig. Was I an idiot or what?! He is very ancient history thank goodness.

8. STILL ROCK N ROLL TO ME…”Should I try to be a straight `A' student? If you are then you think too much. Don't you know about the new fashion honey? All you need are looks and a whole lotta money. It's the next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways , it's still rock and roll to me…”
What besides “looks and a whole lotta money” would you require in a mate?
Sense of humor, intelligence, love of music, worldliness and balls have to be added into the mix or he's just a generic male.

 9. YOU MAY BE RIGHT…”You may be right, I may be crazy. But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for…”
Do you like bad boys (girls) or good boys (girls)?
Good guys finish last. That being said, I generally have been attracted to bad boys, playboys and wolves...only to be dissappointed. Not sure where Bud falls into, but he has enough of both sides to keep my interest.

10. WE DIDN’T START THE FIRE“Wheel of Fortune, Sally Ride, heavy metal, suicide, Foreign debts, homeless vets, AIDS, crack, Bernie Goetz, Hypodermics on the shores, China's under martial law, Rock and roller cola wars, I can't take it anymore”
List 13 things for a Billy Joel verse in this aggravating song…
Depeche, Devo, Cure are fine, Autumn leaves and Sunday drives, reading other blogger's lives, watching tv, drinking wine, Bud and romance now are mine, getting well from being sick. Gonna start a new job quick, future looking really bright, past 4 weeks have been a fright.

11. TELL HER ABOUT IT…”Tell her about it. Tell her all your crazy dreams. Let her know you need her, Let her know how much she means…”
Have you told your significant other or dearest family member recently how much they mean to you?
Not as much as I should, but I did go all out on his birthday, even though I could hardly move ...I had pneumonia!

12. UPTOWN GIRL… “I’m in love with an uptown girl, She's been living in her white bread world. As long as anyone with hot blood can, And now she's looking for a downtown man. That's what I am…”
Have you dated someone above or below your “level”? (richer or poorer). Did you feel comfortable with them?
Yes, both. I dated a man who was living in a shelter. He was nice, but a career homelss person and I could not relate to him on enough of life's subjects to stay with him. I also have dated wealthy men, a rock star, a movie star, a producer, a lawyer and a doctor, and did not feel comfortable at all. I thought they were doing a "charity" date being with me.

13. THE LONGEST TIME… “Who knows how much further we'll go on. Maybe I'll be sorry when you're gone. I'll take my chances, I forgot how nice romance is, I haven't been there for the longest time”
What is the longest you have gone without a love relationship?
Maybe a few years. What do you mean by love? I've not gone more than a couple weeks without dating...but it's been years between lovers.

Happy Birthday Bud Weiser !!!

Happy Birthday to my Bud Weiser! 259 you say?! You don't look a day over 245!

You're still the one...

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Today we picked Dolly Parton. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. "I hated school. Even to this day, when I see a school bus it's just depressing to me. The poor little kids."
What was your worst year in school? Why?
Probably 6th to 7th grade...I had developing body issues, terrible acne and I played trumpet in the band, so was deemed a NERD and a WEIRDO by my neighborhood kids who rode the bus with me in the morning, torturing me with their taunts.

2. "I still close my eyes and go home - I can always draw from that."
Tell us about YOUR home.
My childhood home was disfunctional and odd. Both parents had been divorced and had 2 children each from their first marriages, then they had me, too large of an age span to bond with the other siblings. They babysat me, but I always felt like an only child. My mother was overbearing and unhappy and my father was emotionally abusive and an alcoholic. Fun fun fun to draw from THAT.

3. "I'm not going to limit myself just because people won't accept the fact that I can do something else."
What have you been told that you couldn’t do, but proved them wrong?
I drove alone across country to Los Angeles and got a job and a place to live and then later, moved to London England and did the same. Both of these experiences after hearing my mother's doomsday warnings about failure. I did just fine.

4. "I'm old enough and cranky enough now that if someone tried to tell me what to do, I'd tell them where to put it."
What was the last incident where you were told what to do and were insulted?
I was training in management for a large chain store and the young snippy cashier was all up in my face telling me how to do EVERYTHING like I was mentally handicapped. I was totally insulted at her attitude and frustrated I was stuck working the entire afternoon with her.

5. "If you don't like the road you're walking, start paving another one."
Have you ever reinvented yourself? How?
With every new job, with every move to a new apartment, with every new man. It goes on....

6. "If you talk bad about country music, it's like saying bad things about my momma. Thems fightin' words."
Is there a type of music that you hate?
COUNTRY.  Sorry Dolly.

7. "It's a good thing I was born a girl, otherwise I'd be a drag queen."
Have you ever crossed dressed for Halloween or just for the hell of it?
Yep, and a dandy fine job I did. I have a photo, but looking for it now would hold up my posting. I'll add it later when I do find it. : )

 8. "My weaknesses have always been food and men - in that order."
What are your weaknesses?
Food and men and puppy dogs.

 9. "The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain."
Tell us about something that you did that required patience, but was worth it.
Living with Bud.

 10. "We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails."
When was the last time you made a major change in your life?
When I moved in with Bud. Changed states, apartments, jobs, food, TV shows, lifestyle. Everything.
